MemBond™ IR Activated Polymer Alloy Adhesive (patent pending)

Kubota Research Associates, Inc. has developed MemBond™, an environmentally benign infrared excited adhesive. MemBond™ is formed by dispersing a PTIR™ infrared emitter into a base polymer and is available in film form and paste form.

MemBond™ technology was developed with Lockheed Martin Corporation, funded by National Science Foundation SBIR project #0512869 and with University of Delaware Center for Composite Materials (UD-CCM), funded by The Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP), a Department of Defense (DoD) environmental science and technology program.

MemBond™ applications include Bonding and Repair of polymer matrix composites and other substrates. Detachable fasteners with MemBond™ adhesive can be attached and in less than 30 seconds using the P-Wave™ welding process.
